Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Personally identifiable information (PII) is any data that could potentially identify a specific individual. Any information that can be used to distinguish one person from another and can be used for de-anonymizing anonymous data can be considered PII. Examples include:

  • social security numbers
  • driver’s license numbers
  • government identification numbers
  • gender, race, ethnicity data
  • birth date or birth place data
  • phone numbers
  • email addresses, and
  • mailing addresses

This list is not exclusive.  We strive to ensure that user data is kept securely, and that this data is treated with the utmost security. As such, we will never send PII over email or IM and ask our clients to do the same.

If you have any general questions on how we handle PII or data security, please contact your CSM or create a ticket in our help desk.
